 WEDNESDAYS - MARCH 31ST THROUGH MAY 26TH
WELCOME TO OUR FINAL "COUNTDOWN TO KINDERGARTEN"!
CAN YOU NAME THREE SIMPLE AND SUPER BENEFICIAL THINGS THAT YOU CAN START DOING TODAY
TO HELP PREPARE YOUR CHILD FOR KINDERGARTEN
?  BONUS...YOU ARE PROBABLY ALREADY DOING THEM!
Picture
NUMBER ONE:  PLAY, PLAY, AND MORE PLAY!
Many experts in child development are supporting making this the “Summer of Play” to help children recover from the stress of COVID.  You might be asking, why play? Play is the primary way that children make sense of the world, and it is often considered essential to their development and well-being.

Research on the benefits of play is clear. Play supports healthy physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.  In addition, play supports skills like collaboration, communication, and creativity. That’s why play is a kid’s most important job. Whether it's unstructured, team, or make-believe, play is an integral part of a child's healthy development. So, LET'S PLAY!!!

We have put together a list of EDUCATIONAL GAMES and LEARNING THROUGH PLAY Ideas to help get you started. If you have any fun ideas to add to our list, please let us know! Here is the link:
https://www.earlychildhoodpartners.com/learning-through-play.html
Please share photos of your playtime adventures with us!
Remember...each child enters Kindergarten with a wide range of skills, so don't worry if your
child can't complete a task.  These are suggestions and ideas.  Just have fun!

Please also join us for outdoor playgroups this Summer! In addition to “M Is For Museum” and “Poppets Playdate”, we will be offering THREE brand new STEAM-themed playgroups!
Participants will enjoy stories, groups activities, crafts, hands-on learning, and of course PLAY!

NUMBER 2: GET READY TO LEARN
Another important thing that you can do to help your child prepare for Kindergarten is to practice self-help skills, like dressing independently and opening a bag of snacks on their own (aka "pinch and pull").  In one research study, 73 Kindergarten Teachers were asked "What skills do you wish every incoming kindergartener would have mastered when they came to your classroom on the first day of school?".  Only 9 teachers answers were academic related.  All others were self-help and life skills.

We have put together a list of ideas to help your child build the SKILLS they need to get ready to learn!
If you have any ideas to add to our list, please let us know! Here is the link:

NUMBER 3: BOOKS, BOOKS, AND MORE BOOKS!
The single most important thing that you can do is read with/to your child everyday!

DON'T FORGET TO REGISTER...Please join us on June 7th for a Kindergarten Readiness Workshop for Parents/Caregivers! We will be sharing ideas to help prepare your child (and yourself!) for Kindergarten!
