Gross Motor: Red Light, Green Light
Make three signs (red, yellow & green). Everyone starts behind the starting line. When you hold up the green sign it means “Go” and the children walk as fast as they can to the other side of the room where you are holding the signs. The yellow sign means “Slow Down” and the children must walk slowly. Lastly, the red sign means “Stop” and the children must stop and wait. Then make sure your kids have a turn to control the signs.

Activity: Building Towers
1) Toilet paper tubes, plastic cups, paper towel tubes cut up, plastic water bottles – Go look through your recycling bin for materials you can use.
2) Cardboard platforms can be made out of any recycled boxes.
A simple tower is one of the first things that children can build. You’ll notice that knocking the buildings down is part of this activity. Why? Well, we know kids will do it anyway. May as well make it a fun and completely acceptable part of the day.

Activity: Shape Hunt
You can print out this from the resource section or just leave it open on your phone or tablet and play the game. Go on a shape hunt with your child through your house and find items that can be sorted into one of the four boxes. You can set items out for younger children to help them “find” these items.
Cut pieces of paper into the four shapes and “hide” them around the room. Make the shapes from recylced paper, but make sure to make the shapes big, medium and small. You can also use household items like,
Cookie cutters, cup lids, boxes, plates, money, anything you have lying around.

ACTIVITY: ANIMAL ESCAPE
The point of the activity is to let your child problem solve and figure out a way to free the zoo animals from a string-filled box/basket. You can use a recycled box, a colander, hamper, or basket anything that you can loop string through. The string can be a shoe-lace, ribbon, yarn, or scraps of fabric. Easy, use less string and large items; harder use more string and smaller items. What should you do if you don’t have animals in the house you can use rolled up socks, crumpled paper, or cut up paper towel rolls.

Song: Dino Song
(tune of I’m a Little Teapot)
I’m a Brontosaurus with four feet.
I eat plants, but don’t eat meat.
Known as Thunder Lizard, that is true.
‘Cause when I walked, the earth just shook.
Chorus
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs that we know.
Some were large, some were small.
Fossils tell us this is so,
‘Cause I’ve not seen one after all.
Tyrannosaurus Rex’s my name.
King of the dinosaurs that I am.
I make many run and hide.
‘Cause I’m mean and like to fight.
I’m Triceratops, with three horns.
A big, big head, and frilly bones.
I’m a fierce fighter, on four feet.
But I eat plants, ’cause they are neat.
Activity: Make your own play dough
• 1 Cup Water
• 1 Cup Flour
• 1/2 Cup Salt
• 1 Tbsp oil
• Food coloring
• 1 Tbsp Cream of Tartar (not needed, but helps keep it fresher)
Add all ingredients to a pot and stir to combine. Heat pot over medium heat stirring constantly, after about 3-5 minutes the play-dough should start to form into a ball. Remove the pan from heat and place the dough into a large bowl and let cool. I like to knead the dough when cool enough to handle to make sure everything is mixed. Store in an airtight container.
You can print out the play dough sheets for your child to follow, or keep them open in your screen. You can also create dinosaur fossils by imprinting dino’s in the play dough or using pasta.

Use a chair to play the game similar to "Simon Says" by drawing from the pile of cards and directing the child on what to do. Or you can use your screen and pick a card and follow the instructions.
For example: stand in front of the chair, stand behind the chair, go under the chair, go through the chair, go around the chair, stand between two chairs, etc. This is not only great for gross motor skills but will also help build your child's vocabulary.
Song: One Friendly Dinosaur
One friendly dinosaur wanted to play peek-a-boo.
She found another, then there were two.
Two friendly dinosaurs looked behind a tree.
They found another, then there were three.
Three friendly dinosaurs went to find some more.
They found another, and then there were four.
Four friendly dinosaurs in the water did dive.
They found another, and then there were five.
Five friendly dinosaurs played in the sun.
They all ran to hide; now there are none.
Activity: Playing with Opposites

Activity: Volcano Eruption
Create a small volcano shape using play dough or paper if you are inside, or use a mound of dirt/gravel/sand if you are outside. Place a plastic cup inside the opening of the volcano. Add 4 spoonfuls of baking soda to the cup. Adding a spoonful of dish soap will make it frothy and adding a little washable liquid paint will make it colorful! What happens when you pour a cupful of vinegar into the plastic cup already inside of the volcano? Add your own dinosaurs, or make them from cardboard.

Activity: Grumpy Monkey Emotion Cards
Teaching your child not only about their emotions but also how to handle them is a big job. They don’t always understand why they feel the way they do and even if they do, those sometimes-big emotions can be a lot for young children to handle.
So we created this Grumpy Monkey emotions matching game. The printable is in the resource section, or you can use it on your device and point to the monkey and have your child name the emotion the monkey is feeling. You can also cut up the monkeys to create puzzles. We like to hold up an emotion card and have children try to make the same emotion. So many fun things you can do with these cards.

Song: Little Red
Once There was a girl,
And her name was Little Red.
She set off to her grandmas’ house,
For Gram was sick in bed.
She wondered through the forest,
With her basket full of bread,
She ran into the Big Bad Wolf,
“Where Are you going?” he said
When Red got to her grandma’s house,
She saw her there in bed,
“oh what big eyes, and ears, and teeth,
You have upon your head!”
“The better to eat you with my dear”,
The hungry wolf just said.
“Please don’t eat me” said Little Red,
“Just eat my bread instead”.

We are three little bears,
out in the woods
WE go for walks,
just like we should
And then one day,
while we were gone,
Somebody in a dress
Come in and made a mess!
We are three bears.
She ate our food,
she sat in chairs
She even broke the baby
bear’s!
And then upstairs,
guess what we saw,
We saw her in a bed!
Get out is what we said!
We are three bears.
Activity: Floating Foil Boat Experiment
Introduce children to floating and sinking with this easy science experiment. Kids will love designing and making tin foil boats and testing how well they float. They can investigate how many pennies each boat can hold before it starts to sink, maybe even have a little competition. Even the youngest of scientists will enjoy this fun challenge.
Take a piece of tin foil and mold it into a boat shape. Put the tin foil boat into a tray of water and see how many pennies the boat can hold before it starts to sink.
Experiment with different shaped boats. Do some shapes float better than others? Do larger boats hold more gems before they sink? Does having tall sides help or are shorter sides better?

This is a fun way to learn color and shape recognition while still jumping and working on gross motor skills. Draw with chalk shapes out side on your driveway, or painters tape inside, or use cut out cardboard shapes. Put them in any order and have your child try jumping to the shape.
Song: Little Red
Once There was a girl,
And her name was Little Red.
She set off to her grandmas’ house,
For Gram was sick in bed.
She wondered through the forest,
With her basket full of bread,
She ran into the Big Bad Wolf,
“Where Are you going?” he said
When Red got to her grandma’s house,
She saw her there in bed,
“oh what big eyes, and ears, and teeth,
You have upon your head!”
“The better to eat you with my dear”,
The hungry wolf just said.
“Please don’t eat me” said Little Red,
“Just eat my bread instead”.
Activity: Rapunzel Measure!
Sort By Length
Make papers strips in various colored paper, yarn or ribbon, recycled newsprint works well.
You can print the sort by length sheet from resources or just draw two boxes.
Have your child sort the strips into two piles short or long. Use your handprint or any math manipulative to measure the strips and compare the length (non-standard measurement). Example: The short ones are one child’s handprint and the long are two.

Song: Fairy Tale Song
(Tune –Jingle Bells)
Once upon a time In a land so far away
A princess kissed a frog-
Well that just made his day!
Far across the town,
Red Riding Hood took fright-
She found a wolf in Granny’s bed
When she told her goodnight!
OH! Fairy tales! Fairy tales!
Read them every day!
Oh what fun it is to hear
How Goldilocks got away!
Fairy tales! Fairy tales!
Full of joy and laughter!
Do you know how this one ends?
Why, it’s “Happily Ever After!”
Activity: Three Bears Shape Sort
Have your children to sort the objects by shape. (While some of the blocks may display more than one shape, you can have them focus on the shape the object has the most of.) Then they can place the objects onto the shape bear that match. If a shape square gets filled up, they can stack them up to make a tower. This printable is in the resource section. Walking on pillows was tough to do! Especially tough for a toddlers still trying to figure out and strengthen gross motor skills. To make it harder spread the pillows apart and make it about jumping from island to island.
Song: The Three Bears
(Tune: Down By the Bay)
